Here is a link to the new Reebok/CrossFit Corporate Gym

While this is going to initially be a huge boost for the awareness of CrossFit, there are some trepidations.

What do you all see as the pro/con of this alliance? It's a 10-year partnership worth millions to CFHQ.

BTW, they also stole CrossFit Takeover's web site. Funny....

  1. Pro: greater exposure/ awareness for health and fitness to Reebok's typical audience. Introduce CF to a wider group

Con: CF loses it's grassroots, team-in-training feel and ends up looking more like 24-hr Fitness.

Small classes/ group instruction are key to the success thus far. Hopefully the alliance does not negatively impact current or future box owners. . . .

  4. 29:07 53# KB, 25# DB (no DB's left), & 135# DL.

I wore a brand new shiny Reebok shirt a few weeks ago to a Sat class; Wetter said, "Nice shirt", but I don't think he meant it.

Similar to the mormon church, there will be a split b/t the fundamentalist CrossFit Wetters and the mainstream CrossFit Reebokers (I haven't worn the shirt since).

  5. This looks like a real "ball" buster. Wondering why there are only seven exercises in the "8-Ball" WOD??

As for the Crossfit/Reebok "allegiance/partnership/co-op", only time will tell. Everything I've heard from Coach and HQ leads me to believe they are going to keep Crossfit as close to what it was originally intended to be as possible and not let Reebok start running the show. If Reebok sees the value of Crossfit and wants to get on board, that's great as long as they don't start making Crossfit what they want it to be.

Pros: uh.. money. duh., exposure, how about exposing and educating a whole fitness business (Reebok employees) on all the great things that Crossfit is and their potentail to benefit from it's practice? I'm sure they all see it as nothing but good.

Cons: depends on how they run it - I don't know the details and I think only time will reveal them. This does increase the possibility for Crossfit to turn into some sort of corporate disaster and lose it's grassroot foundation. A good example of an organization that's been able to grow successfully and avoid that is the Sports Car Club of America - SCCA(www.scca.org). I agree with Tisdale in that if that DOES happen, there will be a split and my guess is quite a bit of animosity will follow.

Of note: the design for the website (Greyzed) is a standard design for any user of wordpress to use: http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/greyzed. Props at the bottom of the Crossfit/Reebok website: "Blog at WordPress.com. | Theme: Greyzed by The Forge Web Creations"

  9. 65 minutes plus a few seconds. I had to decrease the Dl weight in the middle of round 6, but otherwise as Rx'd. I didn't know the timer would go that high
